The Tech Fellow position will provide broad perspective and a vision of the future to Interstates' technical teams and clients to ensure we are positioned as a technical leader and leading innovator in the plant automation, OTIS, analytics, and design space.
The Tech Fellow will network with industry contacts to ensure we are ahead of the technologies that can meet changing customer needs.
The Tech Fellow will be responsible for cultivating mature relationships with industry technical leaders, validating software and hardware solutions, and staying ahead of both industry needs and critical path projects.
The Tech Fellow will also work directly with Team Leads and Architects to ensure that all teams are aware of the current technical standards, approved technologies, as well as critical product safety or security notices that will require action from our team.

Responsibilities:
Evaluation of hardware versions, firmware upgrades, and safety/security notices for Automation and OTIS are being completed on time/ahead of critical path and communicate appropriate changes to clients and team members.
Participates on Interstates' standards committees and serve as a common voice with broad perspective to add consistency and continuity to our standards.
Provide a wholistic view of Interstates' offerings, sharing updates on what is coming from industry and the innovation funnel.
Be a forward-thinking presence within our standards teams.
Influence and facilitate the establishment of appropriate standards and modification of out-of-date standards.
Conduct research and validation of new technologies and new ideas (2-3-year time horizon) to help determine the relevance and readiness for Interstates and clients.
(PLC/HMI/Hardware/Software/Networking/Operating Systems/Other) Assign work to Architects to ensure research and validation of new offerings (0-1-year time horizon) is completed, shared, documented, and implementation ready.
Attend when a new technology is used to ensure that we have complete solutions, a wholistic project view, that we are picking the right tools and technologies for the project, and that we are applying learnings to future projects.
The Tech Fellow would have visibility of projects to know when and where to pilot new offerings and innovation initiatives to maximize value and minimize risk.
Support Business Development and the technical sales process to provide client confidence in Interstates' technical abilities, scope initial concepts, and provide a broad technical viewpoint.
Ensure the implementation of approved new technologies into projects by working with Estimating to correctly price the work.
Maintain healthy relationships with vendors/suppliers with a focus on 3
years for opportunities and technologies/innovations in the market that can be pulled into the innovation funnel.
Position Interstates as a preferred partner for testing and implementation of new technologies.
Enable technical support to projects as needed.
Be a resource to connect the correct technical resource (internal or external) with the individual with technical needs.
Nurture healthy relationships with vendors so that those connections can be used for technical problem solving and project support.
Perform environmental scanning, bringing ideas to the Innovation Team and helping prioritize projects against Interstates vision, strategy, and relevance filters.
Steer projects through the innovation process by providing feedback during phase reviews.
Provide input to the planning and prioritization of work for the Innovation Team; including budget and resource allocation, project scoping, and project selection and reviews.
Own the innovation information sharing process and knowledge base, work with internal and external marketing and technical teams to disseminate information, learnings, and grow our innovation reputation.
Will have opportunities to write white papers and present internally and externally with key learnings and to foster relationship building with key partners.
Attend vendor shows and participates on industry committees to provide consistent review and feedback of new products and product features that we may need to implement into our innovation process.
Objective would be to bring back innovation opportunities, establish our leadership in industry, and nurture relationships we can leverage for new offerings and project implementations.
Ownership of innovation lab processes to ensure the lab is functioning for learning, teaching, and customer-facing activities.
Perform testing and teaching in the lab as required by innovation projects.
Provide coaching for Architects with the goal of building up the next generation of Tech Fellows to continue to lead Interstates in the technical and innovation space.
Opportunities to be involved in outside standards committees like ISA, S88, etc.
Visit first of its kind implementations to obtain perspective on how the new technology is performing in real world situations.
Provide feedback or follow-up work based on results and customer feedback.
Performs other duties as assigned or required by his or her supervisor.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION and/or
Experience:
Two- or four-year degree in computer science, industrial controls, automation, engineering; and more than 15 years leadership experience in industrial automation, OT, or related field.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Mastery of at least one of Interstates' core technical competencies (automation, power/controls engineering, OT, or IT) Understanding of all of Interstates' core technical competencies (automation, operational technology, informational technology, engineering, analytics, instrumentation) Demonstrated business leader skill of taking into consideration functional implications when making decisions around the innovation portfolio or other decisions with cascading consequences.
A strong track record of innovation that includes creatively engaging with customers in a unique way.
Demonstrated commitment to outstanding customer satisfaction.
Excellent verbal and written communication.
The ability to simplify complex concepts for multiple audiences and able to communicate with non-technical teams.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
